Marovoto, Ambolobozo, Analalava District, Sofia, Madagascar
57 x 44 x 22 mm
This is palm stone is from the most recent release of material found at the famous Ocean Jasper mine in Marovoto, Madagascar. Called “Jasper” it’s technically considered a orbital chalcedony which is a form of agate. Eight large deposits (veins) have been discovered in the general area since 1999. More recently the mine owner has started documenting material found outside of the actual main deposits. This piece comes from such a deposit discovered after the completion of the most recent 8th vein. The material from this find tend to display smaller defined orbs, but the colors are very vibrant!
